Artist Bio: Lance
has been the Director of Exhibits and Facilities for the Museum
of Discovery, a hands-on science, technology and natural history
museum in the heart of the River Market District in Little Rock,
Arkansas, since 1998.
Before that, he enjoyed a certain measure
of success as a freelance artist; executing minor ideas on a grand
scale by painting murals, designing, building and painting theatrical
and advertising sets.
Artist Interpretation:
"The Adirondack chair, first seen in the early 1900's, springs from
the roots of the Adirondack forest preserve in New York. The chair
is all about the wood.
"Turning completely against that notion, the Reflections Adirondack chair is made entirely of highly polished
chrome. The shiny surfaces sit quietly in the downtown Hot Springs
sun, reflecting the surrounding landmarks. A steady stream of water
glides across the mirrored finish, flowing over the arms and back
down into the earth….to nourish the trees."
