Artist Bio: Born
in Syracuse, Nebraska, Sean C. Cook has spent the better part of
his adult years struggling to be a part of a greater beauty...ART.
Although he has come a long way since his time as a teen
on the streets, he is just now (in his thirties) able to participate
more competently as an artist. Although focusing more on his music,
visual art has always been a part of his life though numerous mediums.
Whether the medium is watercolor, acrylic, pastels, wire, clay,
plaster, or paper mache', Cook will attempt to conquer that medium.
As he finishes his Associate Degree in Graphic Design, Cook can now
add that to his list of artistic talents. Cook organizes various
statewide events for the under-appreciated youth culture in Arkansas.
So how does Cook find the time for all of his many talents? It must be for the fact that Mr. Cook suffers from Attention
Deficit Disorder, from which he has learned to focus his energies
into "hyper-creativity."
The driving force behind Sean C. Cook is his family, who has supported
his endeavors when other families would scoff at art as being frivolous.
His daughter even takes after "daddy" with her passion
for art as well. She also has A.D.D. His only hope is that she will
surpass him in her amount of talent. And that she will use her powers
for good, instead of evil.
What is Cook's message to aspiring artists
out there? "Get an education. If you come from the streets,
be smarter than the streets. Whatever you do, don't let people tell
you that what you feel in your heart as an artist is frivolous.
Be bigger than life!"
Artist Interpretation:
“I took a look at the physical characteristics of the chair.
I then realized that the chair’s back rest fanned out in a
similar manner to the peacock. Thus, my ‘Bird of Beauty’."
