Artist Bio: Betsy
Brackin has periodically lived and worked in Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas,
for the past several years. Her latest journeys have taken her to
Europe where she spent four months traveling and studying under
Maestro Luigi Bocchetti Wanjestraut, a graduate of la Scuola di
Posillipo in Italy.
Betsy attended Savannah College of Art and Design for two years,
and graduated from Memphis College of Art with a Bachelor's of Fine
Arts Degree. During her Memphis College of Art tenure, Brackin helped
to open the Plantation Gallery in Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas.
Betsy has won several awards from the Delta Artist Society, has
received a national award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization,
and has had her work chosen to hang in the White House.
She has
painted murals for the Memphis Public Library, Fidelity National
Bank and the Colleton River Development project. Betsy presently
has a sixty-foot long mural of an 1800's plantation landscape hanging
at the Pete Dye Golf Course in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Artist Interpretation:
"Living in the Arkansas Delta, I have grown accustomed to a few things.
Serene sunsets setting on the lake, fields full of crops farmed
by local farmers, and landscapes that God must have been showing
off when He created. I draw inspiration from all of these sources."
