Artist Bio: The "Postcards from the Beach" chair is a creation of the Adult Development Program of First Step, Inc. First Step was organized in 1959, to provide community based services to children and adults with developmental disabilities (those that occur prior to the age of 22). The mission of the Adult Development Program is to provide services and the necessary life skills to enable the adults to live as independently as possible in their home community. Artist Interpretation: "Art, being a universal language, has been an exciting adventure for the adults giving them the ability to communicate their true authentic self. The love of art by many of the individuals of the adult program is evident in their many creative and artistic projects. Handmade Christmas and all season cards, as displayed on the chair, have been one of their favorite projects for over 8 years. Shoppers throughout the state have enjoyed these special cards as unique and heartfelt gifts. The cards were the inspiration for the chair and we hope the fun and love that went into the design is felt by all."
